When you join the 1593 Club you can donate, on a monthly or quarterly basis, amounts of £15.93, £159.30 or as much as you wish. You don’t have to be a big donor to make a big difference:

Our son has thrown himself into Stonyhurst, taking full advantage of as every opportunity as he is able, most notably enjoying rugby and CCF to the maximum. He is an active participant in Playroom life and has made many friends from all corners of the globe and from a full span of cultural backgrounds. The warmth with which he speaks about these friendships is tangible. He is maturing in his outlook, thinking more of others and we are seeing him develop as a natural leader with courage and compassion. More than anything, he is aspiring to “Quant Je Puis” in his energy on the rugby field, in his academics and drinking up all Stonyhurst has to offer.
We have always had the desire for our son to have a Stonyhurst education. Due to location, economic risk and uncertainty, this had been unaffordable. Only through the generous support of The Stonyhurst Foundation have we been able to give him this unique opportunity for growth.

Alister (OS 04) joined Stonyhurst as a Grammarian, having previously attended a state school in Moldova. It was the simple things such as electricity, heating and running water that most struck him initially.
Alister recalls his Poetry Playroom being inspired by a couple of visiting missionaries from Kenya. Together, they raised enough funds to go there themselves after their A Levels to build a boarding house for the school.
“The bursary I received to go to Stonyhurst transformed my life. And it’s not just about the money, but also the commitment that Stonyhurst made in me to be the best that I could be.”
Alister left Stonyhurst in 2004 and has a BA in Romanian and East European Studies from UCL and PGC in Technology Management from the OU. He is currently a Programme Manager at Capgemini. He is married with one child and lives in London.

Matthew (OS 20) writes…
“I could never have attended Stonyhurst without significant financial assistance. I was made to feel more welcome here (ill-fitting tweed jacket considered) than I had ever felt before.
Receiving news that my bursary application was approved a few weeks later was one of the defining moments of my life. Normally these realisations are only had in retrospect but at that moment I knew my life was about to change for the better; and so, it did. I gained so many great lifelong friends at Stonyhurst, made all the easier by my bursary allowing me to board, exposure to sports, and unique educational experience in a unique setting.”
Matthew left Stonyhurst in 2020 and is in his second year of reading Medicine at Hertford College, Oxford.
